Set of game instructions

Game Idea

Aim of the game is to be the first to collect 8 wooden flies.
Choose a flower thereby setting the sequence for the times table. Roll the
die. Then multiply the number appearing on the die with the number of
your flower. Whoever is able to use their fly swatter to hit the correct
answer first, obtains a wooden fly as a reward.
The cards:
There are two different types of cards: Cards showing flowers or flies.
• The five flower cards show a colored number between 1 and 10 on
each side. This number refers to the sequence you play with.
• On the front side of each fly there is a number. This number is the
result of possible multiplications which are shown on the back side of
the fly. The different colors of the multiplications correspond to the
colors of the flowers, that is to say to their corresponding times table.

Preparation of the Game

Before starting to play choose a sequence between 1 and 10 and place
the corresponding flower face up in the center of the table. Then select
the ten flies showing on their back a multiplication of the same color as
the color of your flower. Arrange these flies face-up at random around
the flower.
Each player takes a fly swatter. Get the wooden flies and the red die
ready.
The remaining material is not needed and is returned to the game box.

How to Play

Whoever can buzz the most like a fly may start. If you cannot agree, the
youngest player starts by rolling the die.
You all play at once. Multiply the number appearing on the die with the
number of the flower and search for the right fly. Whoever spots it, hits it
quickly with the fly swatter. If another player thinks that the right fly has
not yet been found they can go on searching.
Watch out! Each player may use his or her fly swatter only once per
round and has to put it down once they have touched a fly.
As soon as all players have placed their fly swatter on a fly or think that
the right fly has been found, you check the results.
Checking:
Turn round all the flies on which a fly swatter has been placed. Take a
look at the multiplication tables and search for the one that shows the
number and colour of the flower as well as the number on the dice. This
one is the fly with the correct result.
• The player who placed the fly swatter first on the right fly gets a
wooden fly as a reward.
• If no player has hit the right fly, no-one gets a wooden fly.
Afterwards all the flies are turned round again and the players take back
their fly swatter. It's the turn of the next player in a clockwise direction to
roll the die. A new round starts.

End of the Game

The game ends as soon as a player has collected his eighth wooden fly.
He or she wins the game and is master of multiplication!

Variation for professionals

Play according to the basic game, except for the following variations:
Lay out the 42 flies in the center of the table. The flowers are not needed
in this variation and are kept in the box.
Play with both dice: Multiply the two numbers appearing on the dice!
Who accepts this challenge and will go down as a genius of the times
tables in the annals of the history of mathematic flies?
