Game Idea
You will meet many auditory challenges on this journey through the senses! Once you have solved a problem you get a wooden coin as a reward. Who will make good use of his senses and be the first to collect five wooden coins?
Preparation of the Game
Put the game board in the centre of the table and place the play figure Leo Lynx on any activity square. Distribute the ten items around the game board and get the remaining game material ready as well.
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. The youngest sensory explorer starts and rolls the die: • If you rolled a number of dots, move play figure Leo Lynx the same number of squares in a clockwise direction. • If you rolled the symbol of the planet, you can place Leo Lynx on any activity square. What type of activity is shown on the square where Leo is? Rattler • The player who rolled the die is the rattler. He takes a close look at the 10 items before putting on the blindfold. • The other players silently agree on one item and place it in the tin. The tin is closed and handed over to the blindfolded player who shakes it and tries to find out by listening carefully which item is inside. Then he returns the tin and the item is put back to its place. • The rattler then takes off the blindfold and points to the item which he thinks he has heard rattle. • If he is right, he gets a wooden coin as a reward.
The detective of the bell
• The player who rolled the die is the bell detective and puts on the blindfold. • The four bells are put in front of the detective and the players agree silently on one bell and ring it. • The detective tries to memorize the sound of the bell. Then the bell is returned to its place. • The detective takes off the blindfold and rings the four bells. Then he points to which bell he thinks he has heard. • If he is right, he gets a wooden coin as a reward. The bell interpreter • The player who rolled the die is the bell interpreter and puts on the blindfold. • The other players silently agree who should ring the bell. Then they all move randomly round the room, except of course the interpreter. • While doing so, the designated player rings the bell; when he stops then all the players freeze where they are. • The bell interpreter should now point in the direction where he thinks the ringer stands at that moment. He has just one guess. The other players confirm if he was right or wrong. • If the interpreter pointed in the right direction he gets a wooden coin as a reward.
The Audio detective
• The player who rolled the die is the audio detective. He takes a good look at the 10 items and then puts on the blindfold. • The other players silently agree on an item. Then one player drops this item from a distance of about 20 cm (8 inches) onto the game board and then does so again, before returning it to its place. • The detective takes off the blindfold and indicates which item he thinks has been dropped. • If he is right, he gets a wooden coin as a reward.
The whisperer
• The player who rolled the die is the whisperer and places the poster next to the game board so that everybody can see it well. • All players take part in this activity and can win a wooden coin. • The whisperer chooses a motif and in a low and soft voice describes it to the other players. He may not however name the motif itself. Example: Ben is the whisperer and chooses the hedgehog. In a whisper he explains: “It is a living creature. An animal. It hibernates ..” • The other players try to guess as quickly as they can what is being described. • Whoever names it first gets a wooden coin. As a reward for the good description the whisperer also gets a wooden coin. • Whoever is wrong does not get a coin and drops out for this round. If no one guesses correctly, no one receives a coin. Then it's the turn of the next player in a clockwise direction to roll the die.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as the first sensory explorer has collected five wooden coins thus winning the game. If two sensory explorers do so at the same time, they both win.
