Length of the game: approx. 10 - 15 minutes
Loaded down with jewels and other precious stones that sparkle
and twinkle, the Vikings have just got back from their latest
foray. Under a cheering hubbub they unpack the treasure booty
and start distributing it. Vikings, keep cool! Don't reach out for
your divvy too quickly. Perhaps if you wait, the more precious
pieces will arrive on a later ship!?

Contents

1 Viking village, 3 ships, 40 jewels, 60 equipment cards, 1 die, Set of game instructions

Game Idea

Aim of the game is to be the player with the most jewels at the
end of the game.
The players collect equipment cards and as soon as a Viking ship
returns from a foray to the village the treasure load is distributed.
Whoever has the most suitable equipment cards, and can bid
correctly, will win all the jewels from ship's treasure. But watch
out, don't display too many cards or be too greedy!
Preparation of the Game
Place the Viking village in the center of the table and arrange the
three ships in a row, (in any order) leading to the village. Place a
jewel on each ship. Get the remaining jewels ready as your provision.
Then shuffle the equipment cards and deal 6 cards to each
player. The rest of the cards are placed face-down in a provision
pile.

How to Play

Play in a clockwise direction. As the Vikings were a very fierce
people, the player with the grimmest frown starts. If you can not
agree, the youngest player starts and rolls the die.
What does the die show?
• The yellow, red
or blue ship?
Take a jewel from the
provisions and place it on
the ship of the color shown on the die.
• The black ship?
Place a jewel taken from the provision
pile on any ship.
• The card?
All players, one by one, starting with the player
who just rolled the die, take an equipment card
from the pile.
• The Viking Village
The ship adjacent to the village must return home.
If this ship has jewels on it, then the bidding fun
begins. The player who bids the most equipment
cards of the same color as the ship will win all the jewels on
the ship. The player who rolled the die begins by deciding
whether to place a bid.
A bid is made by placing any number of equipment cards of the
same color as the ship on the table (face up so others can see), or
to pass. One by one each of the players can increase the bid or
pass.

Important Viking rules:

• Each player may only display equipment cards once per round.
• The equipment cards which have all three colors can be used
as jokers, for any color. There is no limit to how many jokers
can be placed per round or player.
The player who bet the most cards, takes the equipment cards in
front of him and places them face-up as a discard pile in the
center of the table. He now gets all the jewels of the ship. The
empty ship is positioned at the end of the row and all ships are
moved on one position towards the village.
The players take the equipment cards in front of them back into
their hands.
Example
The red ship returns with a load of four jewels back to the village.
Sonja places two equipment cards in front of her. Michael passes.
Sebastian ups the bid to three cards placing two red equipment cards
and a joker in front of him. Luisa passes.
Sebastian has bet the most cards and places his three cards face-up on
the discard pile. He gets the four jewels of the red ship and the red ship
is placed at the end of the row.
Sonja takes her two equipment cards back into her hand.
Watch out: If all players pass their turn, the loaded ship is
positioned at the end of the row.
Provision pile used up?
If the provision pile has been used up, shuffle the cards of the
discard pile face-down and use them as new provision pile. In
very few occasions it may happen that all the cards of the provision
pile have been used up and the discard pile is empty.
Unlucky for you, in this case you can't draw any card when the
die shows the card symbol.

End of the Game

The game ends as soon as the die shows a ship and there is no
jewel left in the provisions. The players count their jewels. The
one who has the most, wins this venturous Viking adventure.
In case of a draw the player left with most equipment cards in
their hand wins. If there is still a tie, all the players in question
win.
